Frequently Asked Questions

Common Questions, Answered.

Regular service intervals are important to keep your door or gate operating at it's optimal.

For doors or gates that perform one cycle per day (one full open and close operation counts as one cycle) annual servicing would generally suffice.

For doors and gates that perform hundreds of cycles per day, quarterly service service intervals are usually recommended however in extreme cases monthly service intervals may be recommended.

Different manufacturers at times require different methods of preventative maintenance on their products.

There are many different door and gate types and each type usually requires their own unique service methods.

In general, a service should include at a minimum -

  • Adequate lubrication of correct moving parts using the correct lubricants

  • Inspecting the door or gate for any excess or unusual wear and tear

  • Checking the door to ensure the door is correctly balanced (where springs or weights are used to counter-balance) adjusting if necessary but only if practically possible at the time of service

  • Check all fixings are secure and tightened to their correct specs

  • Ensuring the door or gate travels smoothly

  • Test all fitted safety and activation devices, re-calibrating if necessary and ensure the door or gate meet the relevant AS/NZ Standards

  • Provide customer with detailed service report outlining the service performed and any repairs or preventative action which may be required

The short answer is yes, usually.

The process to convert most doors and gates from manual operation to electric operation is in most cases a straight forward one, with the acception of bracket modification in some scenarios.

There are in some cases, situations where the door or gate has been built specifically for manual operation and the parts utilised in their design are not compatible with any motorisation conversion kits.
